Prior to initiating a job search, program participants first work with Goodwill staff to determine interests, skill levels and vocational objectives. These components originate within Human Services. While Goodwill's mission focuses primarily on helping people find employment, an important aspect of our vision is to help all individuals maintain self-sufficiency. Toward that end, Human Services also extends an array of services to individuals with severe disabilities, which enable them to develop personal skills and achieve greater participation within their communities.
Workforce Development
At the heart of Goodwill's Human Services are job placement services. These services strive for total integration. By serving as a consultant to area businesses, Goodwill provides the necessary support for supervisors, employees, and co-workers to ensure a successful match.
Human services staff also oversee a wide variety of training programs to help participants learn the skills and responsibilities needed to launch a meaningful career. Business Advisory Councils (BACs), comprised of volunteer professionals from area companies, contribute to the value of these training programs. Continued guidance and support from the BACs enable Goodwill to develop program objectives and curriculum that are driven by current employer needs and expectations.
